Theme 6 - Generosity: Receiving and releasing God's abundance
Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:36
Once we experience the incredible love and grace of God we are forever changed. It is then natural for us to take on more and more Christ-likeness and in so doing become generous in heart and deed. As we give of ourselves (our finances, possessions and time), God pours back into our lives in amazing and sometimes surprising ways. A culture of generosity breaks the power of a spirit of poverty.
The law of giving and generosity will work for us and cause blessing if we are generous and give good things to others. Whatever we give away will become a deposit into the spirit realm that will be returned in like kind to us and/or our descendants.
This law will bring us into a greater intimacy with God because it helps us to discover that He is extremely generous to us. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25
Generosity is expressing the love of God without expectation of anything in return. The 'more than enough' that God blesses us with is not to build our own empires, but to extravagantly bless those around us. The heart of generosity brings people to God. Bill Johnson
