With the devastating effects of Coronavirus COVID-19 we have all found ourselves living through some of the strangest and unsettling times. Life has been very different and we have discovered there are others ways of being and doing church. We have not physically met together for a number of months and there is a sense that God is using these really difficult circumstances to do some new things in us and through us. It seems for the new to come, the old has come to an abrupt end. During lockdown local councils have capitalised on less traffic being on the roads and have re-surfaced some of the worst roads to make them more fit for purpose. Top layers of tarmac have been stripped away and teams of workers have re-laid surfaces. Old foundations have had fresh surfaces and the roads are like new.
We have utilised online tools such as Zoom and Facebook Live to try and create a church gathered experience on Sunday mornings. Rather than replicating what we would have done when we gathered in our building, we have sought to try some new things and a number of different faces have brought fresh insights and experiences which many have found helpful and refreshing. Who knows how long we'll continue like this but until more of us are able to gather we don't want to rush back into how things were. We do know that small groups are going to become very important in the days ahead and so we want these to be resourced and supported well.
Here are some 'lockdown resources' that we have enjoyed in recent weeks and you may wish to revisit some of these in the coming days.
