Serving in the Church

God gives us all gifts to use to bless and encourage others. There are spiritual, or charismatic gifts that are given by God to build people up and increase their capacity for him.

Alongside these, God gives ministry gifts, gifts we can use to serve one another. Many people share their gifts equally within the church and beyond, reaching out with God’s compassion. Others have a primary calling to either the church or the world, both are valid and should be affirmed, nurtured and cherished. It is important to understand that gifts are given by God to be used and given away through service. The gifts God gives do not increase our value to Him or the church – he loves and values us irrespective of giving.

Street Pastors

There are many opportunities to serve in the church here at Brookside. Each area of ministry has a leader who is responsible for this specific area on behalf of the church leadership team. In getting involved in service it is important that you can respect the leadership of this person. It is also crucial that we are each prepared to be “team players” as every area of service requires us to work with and alongside others.

Serving with Partners

A key role of the church is to reveal and extend the kingdom of God. Jesus said His church would do greater things than even He did. One way in which this happens is through sheer volume. There are so many things that are accomplished through His body, the church.

Locally, nationally and internationally we have friends and partners with whom we work, serve and support. There are great opportunities for people to support and work with these groups.
