Serving in the Church

God gives us all gifts to use to bless and encourage others. There are spiritual, or charismatic gifts that are given by God to build people up and increase their capacity for him. Alongside these, God gives ministry gifts, gifts we can use to serve one another. Many people share their gifts equally within the church and beyond, reaching out with God’s compassion. Others have a primary calling to either the church or the world, both are valid and should be affirmed, nurtured and cherished. It is important to understand that gifts are given by God to be used and given away through service. The gifts God gives do not increase our value to Him or the church – he loves and values us irrespective of giving.
