Two Sides of the Same Coin
Much of our on-going mission is about serving and blessing specific people groups in various parts of the communities. We are working to make God’s love tangible by moving out of the ‘comfort’ of our church building. More ...

Support & Practical Aid

working in partnership with local people to meet local needs!

Practical Aid

A team of 12 travelled to Uganda in July 2011 to bring some much needed support and practical aid to rural communities. Team members included a midwife, nurse, A-level students and a range of other people who chose to give up their holiday time to serve some of the poorest people in Africa who survive mainly on subsistence farming.

In our 2 weeks in Uganda the team;
  • visited 11 schools, distributing over £2000 of text books and sports equipment
  • carried out eyesight tests and distributed over 500 hundred pairs of free glasses,
  • extracted around 30 painful and rotten teeth at 2 dental clinics run by a Ugandan dentist who works as part of the team,
  • ran 2 medical seminars to train 60 front-line rural health workers, and a further seminar for 80 church leaders, providing 20 bicycles to enable them to cover their scattered communities much more effectively,
  • provided 300 mosquito nets to protect pregnant women, mothers and young children against malaria,
  • supported 4 self-help agricultural projects which empower mainly women to generate extra food and income, which enables them to pay for medical supplies and school fees for their children, as well as generating capital to buy land or oxen and include more people in the project,
  • provided financial support for educating 60 children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and other killer diseases  as part of an ongoing commitment to them
  • celebrated with local churches and painted the interior of one of their buildings
  • delivered 2 babies.. and in the process probably saved the life of one mother and her baby as the labour was getting very complicated
It’s amazing what 12 people can do in 2 weeks, working in partnership with local people to meet local needs!
