Cowan Family Update
Douglas moved to Reading from his native Scotland in 1988 working in Air Traffic Control in West Drayton and started to attend Kings Church at Hilltop. Doug had been in Uganda with, short term TEAR Fund team in 1987 working on a hospital electricity supply. In 1990 and 1991 he went on short term technical mission assignments with HCJB radio in Ecuador.
While in Ecuador he met Maria Augusta and in December 1991 she came to visit Reading and in June 1992 they were married. Three years later they felt God’s leading to apply to Latin Link and were invited to work in technical mistries with the ASOMAVISION TV station in Ecuador. In1995 they attended Redcliffe College in Gloucester to prepare for this new role. They have been involved in various project over the years – notably short term mission teams, Unsion TV, REMAR children at risk projects in Quito, Prison ministry and Business as Mission initiatives.
Their daughters Cristina & Sara were both born in Reading in 1993 and 1995. Doug likes to drive cars of about his age – he drives a 1967 VW Beetle in Quito but still misses his Citroen 2CV he had in UK. Maria Augusta is not quite so keen on fixing up old cars but loves the beautiful outdoors activities of the Andes where they live in Quito and being close to 7 of her brothers and sisters. |
