One Step At a time

I wanted to share with the Church what God has been showing me through patchwork.

John & I went to a patchwork & quilting exhibition at the NEC in August, and I saw a beautiful quilt displayed on a trader stand. It was very different from the kind of design I usually choose, but I decided to buy the design anyway, and chose fabrics which were outside my box.
I found time to start making the quilt, thinking this is going to be good. I have made loads of quilts and was confident I could do this. I had been told that the shop owner's husband had designed the quilt and written the instructions. He was not a quilter, but an architect.

one step at a time

When I opened the instructions I was very disconcerted. The method of construction was totally different from the usual methods. My confidence evaporated. I was ready to give up. I looked and looked and felt completely out of my depth, and could not see how it would work out.

I took a deep breath and decid ed to go for it. As I followed the first step the second step became clear, and I proceeded one step at a time until the top was completed, as you see.

I had been feeling very uncertain and a bit cynical at the thought of Mission communities. It was also out of my box, and unlike the quilt, I had no picture to see what the end result should be.

I have been learning that this journey is the same. We will only be able to do this together if we take one step at a time. As we take one step the next will become clear. The Architect has the design in hand. I am still a bit apprehensive, but am willing to take the first step. Thank you Father for your love and patience..
