JAC (Just Around the Corner) is a local charity that we link up with in all kinds of ways. JAC works with children, young people and families in Woodley, Earley and Lower Earley, helping them through difficulties and encouraging them to make positive choices. We have a Wednesday afternoon session where a mission community runs out of Brookside and alongside Lower Earley Baptist Church to run a kids club called Rocky Road. 

The group serves local children, particularly those we know through JAC. Alongside this, in the summer we run detached sessions on the local estate and during the winter months serve the children and parents tea and lay on activities at the local community centre. This process of relationship building is key to building up trust and respect with the local children and families. This enables us to get alongside families in the community, helping them chat through difficulties they face, and ultimately showing Jesus in a relevant way. The children and families we know through this work are often involved in the extra activities that we run throughout term-time and during the holidays. These include children’s celebrations, holiday clubs, fun-days and the annual summer church camp.
