Worship at Brookside
Vibrant and creative praise and worship is an important part of our church heritage and remains a key value for us today. When we join together in Sunday morning celebrations we greatly appreciate the skills and gifts of a growing number of wonderful musicians and singers who help support the congregation as we bring our grateful thanksgiving to God.
At the heart of this is a deep appreciation of who God is as our Father and we love to express our thanks for all He has done and all He continues to do in our lives through the work of the Holy Spirit. We encourage and enjoy participation from as many as possible during our celebration meetings and it’s now not unusual to hear exciting stories of what God is doing, both within the church community and around and about us. We also encourage the use of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit – knowing that our Father God loves speaking to us.
Q. What is the end of man?
A. Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever.
Westminster Catechism, First Question
|
Worship is much more than singing and meeting together on Sunday mornings.
We believe that the bible teaches us that worship is actually how we live our lives. In some ways this is captured in the Westminster Catechism. As we aim to live our lives in a way that glorifies God, this becomes our lifestyle of worship. Our corporate times of praise and worship can only be enhanced as we take responsibility to be worshippers throughout the week. There is an integrity that means a greater authenticity and less possibility of our corporate praise and worship being a mere ‘performance.’ |
